Dinnerware for Amoebas

Present

It would be fun to confuse people by serving cucumber slices on these plates.

Vanessa Says:

" I'd say the person who left it had been gone over an hour at least since it had been quite a while since the time we arrived and the time we found it, or I should say, shown it, by the guy picking up empty glasses/bottles, so I didn't hesitate to take it. It was practically under a chair by the wall, and it was still unwrapped in a little brown paper gift bag. What a cool gift, too! It's a set of four plates, about 4" x 4" each. There's no purple in it, that's just reflection from my light."

I love this tin.  Not only because I like Art Nouveau- also, finding it reminds me of  Do Not Open, a favorite book of mine.  Naturally, it is about finding things on the ground!

Do Not Open (Picture Puffin Books (Paperback))

"The first thing she found was a pretty tin box full of wet cookies.  Just what she needed for her postcard collection."

Apple Cup

Dscn2070

I found this under a "FREE STUFF!" sign, next to some hideous couch cushions and fake flowers.  I passed it by, but then did a double take- it matches a vintage mug I already own (below)!

I can't believe it was just sitting on the curb.  I looked on eBay for the rest of the set for months.

The lemon mug was from my Grandmother's house.  It's my favorite mug.  I keep it in my medicine cabinet with my toothbrushes in it, because it's cheery and I think of my Grandma every morning.

Also, I wanted to use it somehow, but didn't want to put it in the dishwasher because I thought it might strip off the paint.  From the look of the apple cup, I was right.
