Kind of looks like they only do dry cleaning for journalists.  This came with my dry cleaning, not found on the ground, but I think it's cool.

Funky Quarters

Dscn2565

Now that I use coin-operated laundry machines, I see a lot of quarters.

Is it me, or do the new state quarters get discolored a lot more easily than the old ones?  I keep finding funkily-colored ones, like these.

SubGenius Church Guy Says- Thanks for the Library Book!

Dscn2575

This looks an awful lot like J.R. "Bob" Dobbs.  His hand even almost looks like he should be holding a pipe!

Please Don't Hurt Me, Dr. Rabbit! I Promise to Floss!

Erin_and_dr_rabbit_please_dont_hurt_me_d

No pride.  Absolutely none.

If I see a giant mascot, I have to pose with it.

I also tried to get a picture with Phlegmy the Advair(R)-Sponsored Phlegm Monster at the asthma-awareness tent.  But I think he got heat stroke in his plush costume, and had to go lie down.

Bummer.

Where is Found on the Ground?

Hi, Everyone!

Pardon our dust while we relocate FOTG headquarters.

On Sunday, 11/12, cable and internet will finally be installed in the BRANDSPANKING NEW apartment!

That's assuming, of course, that the cable guy shows up. (He was a no-show a few weeks ago.)

I have found all sorts of wonderful things, and can't wait to post them all!

-A tough-looking mall glamour photo

-A ruler for dyslexic adults

-37 cents

-A note from Laverne, who thinks Chick-Fil-A is an Asian take-out restaurant

-A bike courier's photo ID

-A brooch that says "e"

Stay tuned!  Fresh FOTGs on Monday.

The Long Tail

Image003_1

Above, the opposite of a Long Tail.

Reading FOTG's stats the other day, I saw that at least one reader has discovered us via a search-engine called, "The Long Tail of the Blogosphere", which searches www.blo.gs (which tracks changes on Typepad blogs, among others) for whatever keyword you enter.

"What is this site?

It's a bit of an experiment.

There are hundreds of thousands of bloggers.  Some of them are popular bloggers with thousands of readers, but most of them have just a few friends watching their blog.  There are so many bloggers that new, interesting content is often ignored.

The 'Long Tail of the Blogosphere' refers to the mass of blogs that exist that few people read."

Ouch-  The truth hurts! :)

Baby Kittehs & Mushrooms

Dscn2061

Dscn2045

A few sights along the way to a hideous apartment I saw last month, when we were pretty desperate for a place to move. (This was the same day I found the pink Hummer, FBI application, and Healthy Cooking for One.  What a day!)

It had rained recently, and there were tons of mushrooms on the ground.

The kittens were very sleepy.  They were barely interested in me and my camera.  They were rescues available for adoption, chilling out in the window of a ritzy pet store near the Mug Shots coffee house.  I thought it was a little sad that the fit in with the area's theme of "behind bars", but I'm sure they found good homes.

Chocolate Washington

Dscn2253

Oh, yeah. They went there.

Dscn2252

100% Chocolate, baby.  Nothing but the best for the father of our country.

Dscn2251

I am informed that there used to be another chocolate historical figure, made out of white chocolate, and "It was the most beautiful one" out of what I can only assume was the Marriot's extensive Chocolate President Collection.

But unfortunately, "One day, a guest put a cup of coffee on top of his protective case, and his hand fell off.  Then they moved Washington to the giftshop."  But of course!  For safe keeping.

"I don't know why they took the white chocolate guy away," the art lover continued, "He looked fine with one hand."
